Naturally Learning Poltair is situated in the heart of St. Austell in the grounds of Poltair School. A nursery has been on this site for 22 years and is a thriving part of the local community. High quality care and education is provided by a well qualified and experienced staff team led by a qualified teacher. Its close proximity to the town centre and Cornwall College make it a very popular setting.
A refurbishment took place in 2014 to increase our capacity and improve the setting for the children.
The nursery provides separate spaces for babies, two to three year olds and Pre school children. All spaces are well equipped with many beautiful, high quality resources that inspire and stimulate learning. The nursery is open from 8am until 6pm, 51 weeks a year.
The Baby Room has been created to give our littlest learners the best opportunities possible for early development. It hosts a large crawl in sand pit and synthetic grass area for sensory exploration along with a wide range of wooden toys and recycled resources. There are comfy cushioned areas, open spaces to crawl, puzzles to solve and art resources to create; all of which are all made accessible at all times.
The Toddler Room has areas for sensory stimulation, exploration, play, creativity and relaxation. The staff lead the children in daily song and share quiet story times. A large garden offers further opportunity for extensive outdoor exploration and learning. Even the youngest children enjoy this space on a daily basis, growing their own herbs to add to their homemade play dough or collecting pebbles and logs to add to their large indoor crawl in sand pit.
The Explorer Room has been specifically designed for inquisitive minds. It houses its own indoor climbing frame, role play areas, art studio, quiet reading corner and construction zone. The room offers ample space for play and exploration, creative play, and quiet times. The children cultivate their own allotment space where they experiencing planting and growing their own fruit and vegetables which they use in cooking their own meals. The well qualified team provide children with opportunities to play and experience numbers and phonics, investigate, create, cook, sing and develop musical expertise and express themselves through ‘imynda’ our own creative, storytelling program.
Our own Forest School leader takes children to our woodland area in the ‘far, far away field’ where they build dens, play games, climb, light fires and enjoy nature across the year, in all weathers, drinking hot chocolate, toasting marshmallows and even cooking their own bread on open fires.
The extensive outside spaces at Poltair provide a variety of interesting areas for children to explore and discover safely. The gardens contain dens, a mud kitchen, an allotment, bikes and trikes for racing around, mud shoot and quarry, loose parts, climbing frame and a small world space.
