Truro Forest School is an alternative preschool for children aged 3-5 years old. Enrol your child to experience the natural world in its wildest form, learn from the seasons and develop life long skills for adventure.
Our Forest School is set over two locations in central Truro;
‘Basecamp’ on Cathedral Lane and private woodland in Idless Woods. ‘Basecamp’ provides a safe registration and collection point, continuous play opportunities & a project space for extended exploration.
The Atelier transforms into a Workshop or Art Studio to reflect the children’s learning as we bring the outside in to discover through project based learning.
The Forest School itself is nestled in the heart of Idless Woods. Majestic conifers outline the woodland and the River Allen traverses through the space. Children are greeted by pigs, ducks and chickens as they embark of their Forest School experience.
The site offers magical outdoor learning opportunities. Children benefit from the abundance of space to move freely and precious time to investigate what interests them.
The preschool experience a raw wilderness that develops independence, creativity and resiliance; skills to be transferred into everyday life and as children transition to school and beyond.
Developing physical skills through a term called ‘risky play’. We’re talking about construction, tool use, fire lighting!
Forest School captures the wild at heart and fosters a love for the natural world, nurturing the next generation of conservationists. Expect to see plant identification, foraging, knots, bird spotting, animal tracking and more!
